1442. The department shall, in cooperation with the Mission Education and Cultivation Department, and the General Commission on Communication, encourage Golden Cross and similar offerings within each annual conference to collect moneys and provide other material assistance for care of sick persons, children, youth, older persons, and persons with handicapping conditions, especially emphasizing support for those ministries which provide assistance to persons in need.
