[Third sentence] Although we do not condone the practice of
homosexuality and consider this practice incompatible with Christian teaching,
we affirm that God's grace is available to all. Research,
theological inquiry, and spiritual discernment have not led United Methodists
to a consensus of the etiology of homosexual orientation. We remain divided in
our understanding of homosexual orientation and practice. We continue to seek
God's truth and understanding in a spirit of humility and love.
