congregations or ecumenical shared ministries within the
bounds...and other qualifications expected of a United Methodist clergy.
They shall give evidence of their agreement with and
willingness to support...Their ordination credentials and other appropriate
qualifications shall be examined by the bishop and the Board of Ordained
Ministry, and upon its the board's
recommendation...When the Board of Ordained Ministry certifies that their
credentials are at least equal to those of associate members, although
they are not associate members, they may be accorded all the rights and
privileges of associate membership in the Annual Conference (¶ 419.2,
.3) and other qualifications are in order, and when they are
recommended by the board to and elected by the executive session of the annual
conference, ordained ministers from other denominations shall be clergy members
in full connection with the annual conference during the time the person is
appointed to a United Methodist congregation or an ecumenical shared ministry
in which The United Methodist Church is a participant. They shall
not have security of appointment, nor shall they itinerate.
