The Annual Conference is responsible for structuring its ministries in order
to accomplish its purpose (¶ 701). In so doing it shall provide for the
connectional relationship of the local church, district and conference with the
general agencies shall provide for the connectional relationship
between the general boards and commissions and the conference, district, and
local church. It will monitor to ensure racial, gender, age
inclusiveness and for persons with disabilities in the Annual Conference.
1.a) An Annual Conference shall provide for the functions and
General Conference connections of with all
boards and general agencies provided by the Discipline.
In doing this the Annual Conference may organize units so long as the
functions of ministry are fulfilled and the connectional relationships are
maintained. Utilize structures unique to regional aspects of its
mission, other mandated structures not withstanding. 38
b) An Annual Conference may utilize the interactive model of organization including the elements of: (1) the Annual Conference; (2) Outreach, Nurture, Witness Ministries; (3) Leadership Ministries; (4) Administrative and Fiscal Ministries and; (5) the Council to fulfill the functions as specified in ¶ 701.
