Whereas, these discriminatory practices have caused a significant number of African American clergywomen to suffer stress-related illnesses; and
Whereas, the salaries for African American clergy are substantially less than those of White female and male clergy;
Therefore, be it resolved, that the General Conference enact the following:
*Commission the General Board of Ordained Ministry to do a comprehensive study to document the disparities affecting African American clergywomen with regard to:
1. Appointments, compensations, and elections to chair, convene, and serve on various boards and agencies of the general Church.
2. The nature and extent of stress-related illnesses suffered by African American clergywomen related to these disparities.
*Submit a report of these findings no later than the 2000 General Conference.
