The need for these areas of policy can be justified by statistics comparing children raised in two parent homes to those raised in fatherless homes. These statistics include the following findings:
*increased rate of teen pregnancy
*decreased academic performance
*lower graduation rates
*increased rates of juvenile delinquency
*increased rates of drug abuse
*increased likelihood of abuse, including sexual abuse, by a non-related person such as a boyfriend or step parent.
