Purpose.--The primary purpose of the board shall be to propose to the
2000 General Conference two (one clergy and one laity) restatements of our
Social Principles that are consistent with relate the
gospel of Jesus Christ. to the members of the Church and to the
persons and structures of the communities and world in which they live. It
shall seek to bring the whole of human life, including all activities,
possessions, and community and world relationships, into conformity with the
will of God. It Such proposed Social Principles shall show the
members...social and civic righteousness as integrated in Micah's Triad:
doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God.26
