Rights of the Unborn.--Once considered the property of their mothers, unborn children are now acknowledged to be human beings in their own right, but beings to whom adults and society in general have special obligations. Thus, we support the development of adoption agencies, counseling services for expectant mothers, and centers for unwed mothers, designed to guarantee that every unborn child has a right to life and to development as a part of a loving family. These rights we affirm as theirs, regardless of actions or inactions of their parents.
