Whereas, the General Council on Ministries has provided important support to the Committee on Hispanic Ministry in the implementation of the National Hispanic Plan and coordinating the work of the general agencies during this quadrennium; and
Whereas, the General Council on Ministries has provided consistent support to racial/ethnic communities such as the development of the Program to Strengthen the Black Church for the 21st Century and the work of the Native American Concerns Committee; and
Whereas, there is a proposal being circulated for the General Conference to eliminate the General Council on Ministries;
Therefore, MARCHA (Methodists Associated to Represent the Cause of Hispanic Americans) wishes to express its support for the General Council on Ministries and hereby petitions the 1996 General Conference to vote nonconcurrence with all petitions directed at eliminating the General Council on Ministries.
