Whereas, a service was held at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary on May 4, 1995, in which Sophia and other goddesses of Egypt, Greece, Canaan, etc. were worshiped rather than Jesus Christ;
Therefore, be it resolved, that the 1996 General Conference of The United Methodist Church call on all of the laity and clergy within their congregations, boards, divisions, agencies, seminaries, and conferences to do all within their power to study and examine the curricula and personnel within each seminary supported by The United Methodist Church to determine exactly what is being taught there, to eradicate all evidences of false doctrine being taught, and to determine that only the doctrine in keeping with the holy Scriptures be taught in the seminaries. ("You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine" Titus 2:1 NIV.)
