A ministry specialist is a certified or licensed person approved by the vote of the clergy members in full connection, appointed by the bishop to focus on the servanthood to which all Christians are called. These persons may be employed on the staff of a local church or cluster of churches, on the staff of a district or conference, on the staff of a United Methodist or ecumenical agency, by a college, university, or school of theology, or in a position that extends the servanthood of Christ to the world.
