1996 United Methodist General Conference

April 16 - 26
Denver, Colorado

___________________________________________________

The 1996 United Methodist General Conference was held April 16-26 in Denver, Colorado at the Colorado Convention Center. The "mile high city" was host to 998 delegates, many staff persons, and an estimated 5000 visitors. Every four years approximately 1000 delegates come together to chart the course for this multi-million member religious denomination. General Conference is the only body authorized to create and modify The Book of Discipline, United Methodism's "church law".

We have now transferred the files from the General Board of Global Ministries server (thanks to them for hosting the pages during the Conference!) to their permanent home on http://www.umc.org/. We are still in the process of removing references to local access from the Denver Convention Center.
