Also, she worked on the Executive Board of the Woman's Christian Temperance Mission, and worked as an Assistant Pastor at Hanson Place Methodist Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, New York. |

Martha B. Meara Rogers (1860-1951) was born on May 12th, 1860 in Newport, Kentucky. When she was sixty years old, purportedly she became the first woman in the East to be licensed to preach in a local Methodist Episcopal Church pulpit. She served at the Hanson Place Methodist Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, New York, as an assistant pastor. Additionally, Rogers was a member of the Executive Board of the Woman’s Christian Temperance Mission. Martha B. Rogers is related to the Meara and Munroe families, whose family papers are also present in this collection.
Included in this collection are numerous personal correspondence, land deeds, wills, and tax receipts and bills. Also included, are Rogers’ address book, postcards, newspaper clippings, and her local preacher’s license.
