ScriptusTranscriptionJanOP1-123:1 Ancestral Worship. JanOP1-123:2 Anamori No Inari near Tokyo. Thousands of Toriis which a sudden burn of piety erected to Inari, the Goddess of Rice also called "Uga- no-mitama." The fox, whose image is always found in her temple, is her servant or messenger, though the more ignorant worshippers take that wily beast for the goddess herself. There is some confusion with regard to the sex of Inari, who is occasionally represented as a bearded man. StatusCompleted
