Idol scene in temple of Hell Tianfu, China. This shows a violation of the law being punished before the idol by having his flesh peeled off. This is one of several groups of odols depicting punishments in the after life. The Boxer Uprising is said to have originated in this temple.

Residence of American Board of Missionary Pagoda, Foochow, China. This is on a hillside overlooking Anchoring where ocean going passengers tranship from bay steamer to small river launches farthe trip to Foochow City.
