H3411 Pioneer Square The famous old center of Seattle familiar to all residents and travelers to the city. The totem pole was brought from Tongas Island in 1897 where it is said to have stood for a hundred years. Seattle, Wash. H3414 Denny Hill Regrade Seattle. No city has done more gigantic things than Seattle in cutting down hills and filling tide flats. This great hill with the old Hotel Washington is shown in the upper left corner and beneath is shown the last of the famous hotel. At the upper right is shown the steam shovel at work and the hydraulic pluicing to carry away the earth. Below appears the splendid modern structure. H3435 The Missouri River at Kansis City with the old river packet plying its time- honored course and the modern bridge with its superb passenger train.
