The Committee recommends concurrence as amended as follows:
Whereas, the Office of Town and Country Ministries and the Office of Urban Ministries have been crucial to the implementation of ¶ 1414.13 and ¶ 1415.6, .7; and
Whereas, major economic and social problems such as unemployment, violence, substance abuse, and homelessness continue in rural areas and in the inner city; and
Whereas, the vast majority of small membership churches are located in rural areas and in the inner city; and
Whereas, there is a continuing demographic movement directly between rural areas and the inner city;
Therefore, be it resolved, that the work Office of Town
and Country Ministries and the work Office of Urban
Ministries be continued in the structure of the General Board of Global
Ministries and/or its successor organizations.
