Sheila Kaye-Smith (1887-1956), English writer was born on February 4, 1887, in St Leonards-on-Sea, Hastings, Sussex. Kaye-Smith's works were often set in the area where she grew up. In 1924 she married Theodore Penrose Fry, an Anglican clergyman. At first they were anti-Catholic in their views but later joined the same church. Kaye-Smith died on January 14, 1956 and is buried in the church yard at St Teresa of Lisieux, at Northiam.
An incomplete handwritten manuscript of her work entitled "The Tramping Methodist." The manuscript starts at chapter three and ends with the twentieth chapter.
