Conference. The records here are various study papers and position documents used by the Committee.

History Note
In 1988 a resolution to the General Conference recommended the establishment of a study committee for gay and lesbian issues.
The resolution was amended at General Conference to charge the General Council on Ministries to create a Committee to Study
Homosexuality. The purpose of the committee was to study homosexuality as a subject for theological and ethical analysis;
to seek the biological, psychological, and sociological information and opinion on the nature of homosexuality, and to explore
the implication of its study for the Social Principles. The Committee presented a report to the 1996 General Conference.
Scope Note
These study papers on various topics related to religion and homosexuality were collected by the Committee to Study Homosexuality.
There are no minutes of the committee or other administrative records.

Denominational agency journals, reports and committee minutes are open to the public unless they have been closed in accordance
with requirements specified in the Discipline. Denominational agency staff office records are closed for twenty-five (25)
years after creation. Personnel records are closed for at least 75 years. Appeals can be made to the General Commission on
